Health Benefits of Turmeric

Turmeric, also known  as curcumin is a spice which is used in many ways. In India, Turmeric has been used for healing wounds and injuries and these medicinal  properties have been used all over Asia for the past 2500 years.

Turmeric has so many health benefits that I will be giving a list of the most known and useful.

1. It is a very good antiseptic and antibacterial agent, it can be used in healing cuts and burns.

2. It's very good for treating acne. Turmeric can be used as a face pack, powdered and mixed with some water and gram flour (besan). Make a paste of it and apply this on the face. Leave it till it is dry and rinse it off with luke warm water. Do this twice a week.

3. It is also known as a home remedy for cold. Mix one teaspoon of turmeric powder with a glass of warm milk can help get rid of colds.

4. As it helps acne, turmeric is also a great blood purifier. Having a glass of water with a teaspoon of turmeric can be really helpful for the blood vessels.

Contraindications: Turmeric should not be used by people with gallstones or bile obstruction. Though turmeric is often used by pregnant women, it is important to consult with a doctor before doing so as turmeric can be a uterine stimulant.
